ABOUT THE VIRTUAL PUBLIC WORKSHOP
During the past year the Steering Committee for Dryden 2045 has conducted stakeholder focus groups, provided public presentations, and administered a community survey. Based on these interactions the Steering Committee has developed preliminary goals and strategies to address the community needs identified through the public input that has been received.
During January and February the Steering Committee will host a series of Virtual Sessions to solicit feedback on the draft goals and strategies. The final session is scheduled for February 10th at 6:00pm.
Dryden 2045 Comprehensive plan update OVERVIEW
New York Town Law §272-a provides the legislative authority for towns to adopt and periodically update comprehensive plans. Among the most important powers and duties granted to the town government is the authority and responsibility to undertake town comprehensive planning and to regulate land use for the purpose of protecting the public health, safety and general welfare of its citizens.
Through this comprehensive planning process, the people of Dryden will share their vision and hopes for the future of our Town. This plan will incorporate a 25-year planning horizon and update the previous 2005 comprehensive plan. Meetings and conversations with residents, business owners, and others will be combined with written public feedback to establish priorities and inform the content of the plan. The project team will incorporate public input and present a draft for a public hearing and eventual adoption by the Town Board. For more details about the process, see the Plan Process section.
While Dryden 2045 is intended to meet the requirements of state statute, the plan also has significance for Dryden in a time of population and employment growth. The Town will use this plan to guide decision-making that affects the long-term future of our community as it relates to the built, natural, and economic environment.
